The models
suggested the southside was the
place to be, but the best
activity turned out to be to the
north of the city. The radar at 4:30pm:

The first
cell I liked on radar was due to
track NE just south of me in
Springwood, so I drove down
towards Beenleigh and took the
Jacob's Well Rd exit.

The Bureau
of Meterology's Mt Stapylton
radar was keeping a sharp eye on
things:

An oddly
shaped bit of scud:

Facing SW
from Mt Stapylton, Beenleigh:

The cell
dumped a bit of rain and some
good rumbles but not much else.
Without access to the rain radar
I searched out a spot along
Jacob's Well Rd with a decent
360° view.

The
following cell was visibly
building to my north and (I found
out later) had just dumped 3cm
hail on Archefield. The radar at 5:50pm:

It then
crossed Cleveland and was now
heading out to sea:

Meanwhile
on the opposite horizon, the
setting sun was competing for
attention.

The main
cell to my north was glaciating
beautifully as it headed out to
sea:

At about 6:45pm a friend
informed me that a new cell was
now tracking NE across the
northern suburbs.

A couple of
very impressive sounding cracks
over the phone convinced me to
make the trek to the northside.

Unfortunately
for me, as I set up near the
airport the activity was heading
out to sea.
